Knowing our Boundaries: A Social Story Infographic

This infographic represents a simple social story technique used often with children on the autistic spectrum. I designed this to work with my own son when were we experiencing some problems with his concept of personal space.

Social stories were invented by Carol Gray as a method of helping autistic children to develop better social awareness and gain confidence. They are intended to be short, simple and direct – no room for fancy writing here. Social stories should be repeated often with your child at a calm time when they are listening.

While they are designed primarily for autistic children, as a mother of four, I also believe they can be pretty useful for neurotypical kids, too. 🙂

More information can be found about social stories here.
